Laura Wyckoff earned her MFA in creative writing from the University of Washington. Her fiction was informed in part by travel and her experience in a wide variety of jobs — among them Peace Corps volunteer, library assistant, English as a Second Language teacher, bartender (very briefly), weaver of wool blankets, and consultant for work force development. Her consulting work included developing curricula for nonprofit organizations and community colleges, as well as putting research reports into a form that frontline social workers, job counselors, and trainers could better understand and use. In addition to completing an unpublished novel, Laura published work in literary journals including Calyx, Western Humanities Review, The Gateway Review, The Lowestoft Chronicle, and The First Line. Christy Wyckoff, her husband, taught printmaking for more than three decades at the Pacific Northwest College of Art.
