The Everything He Owes

Portland, OR: Author, 2014
First printing. Set of eleven (plus one) artist's books, with additional materials, enclosed in a custom two-compartment wooden box. Published in an edition of fifteen copies; this is number 10. Pamphlets saddle-stapled into self-wrappers. New, at publication price.

The first year of this exciting new publisher's book production consists of varied explorations of the possibilities of the book form, each volume pushing a different set of concerns as far as possible. Published in first printings of forty-two copies, the books feature found illustrations; visual poetry and altered texts; overprinting, cutting, folding, and holes; handwriting and color; and a large helping of humor, inspired by and in homage to such forebears as Bern Porter, Dieter Rot, Wolf Vostell, John Baldessari, and others.

In the deluxe boxed edition the ten pamphlets are accompanied by assorted object multiples: An Illustrated Field Guide to Uncertainty (a book of loose round pages, punched by hand, in a metal and acrylic box), a stress game, an artist's matchbook, an eraser, a pair of scissors, and so on, as well as two copies of a signed and witnessed certificate of authenticity, a blank bill of transfer/sale, and a photographic print reproducing “a portrait of the artist author editor designer printer publisher without a beard.”

A tour de force collection.
